Construction Company

About This Company.

Not all of our clients wish to be identified. Some wish to remain anonymous – sometimes to retain an ‘edge’ over a competitor. That is understandable and never an issue for us to accommodate. If and when discretion is called for, we work with the client to keep the project under wraps, providing advice and guidance on how best to do so.

The Challenge.

Our client, an engineering company that trades exclusively to the construction industry in Ireland and UK, undertook the Lean Pass course to provide its employees with a basic understanding of the principles of lean.

The company had identified that many of its clients in the construction sector were adopting Lean practices and the company wanted to commence its lean journey by providing every one of its employees with the basics. Strategically, the company decided that having skilled Lean practitioners would be a competitive advantage.

A Collaborative Solution.

The company noticed a strong interest among its employees to complete the course and every employee was trained. Each group was asked to identify waste in their individual area and produce ideas as to how this waste could be eliminated. The most common wastes were time spent looking for equipment and tools and waiting on the production line for work.

The LCI Pass course has taught the group the basics of Lean and helps them to identify waste in each area.  Some of issues will be solved by JDI “Just Do It” meaning tasks get completed immediately.

Impact and Results.

The outcome of the LCI Pass course is that a library of projects has been created which will feed the Lean Yellow Belt course that will begin shortly. The yellow belt provides the problem solving skills to address problems that require a root cause analysis.
